“Handling HIPAA & HITECH without the Hysteria” is ideal for any healthcare or non-healthcare organization staff member who handles phi (protected health information). In order to avoid large financial fines, this seminar addresses the “nuts and bolts” about the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH).  Attendees will learn about the following topics during this three-hour workshop:

  • Explanation of key concepts associated with HIPAA Privacy Act.
  • Methods to properly disclose and use Protected Health Information (phi).
  • Discussion of National Institute of Standards and Technology’s HIPAA Security Rule Toolkit User Guide.
  • Review of HITECH’s requirements.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technicians assist the hospital and retail pharmacist in a variety of technical
tasks.  They may interpret a physician’s orders, prepare and distribute medications,
perform pharmaceutical calculations, communicate with patients and medical staff,
process insurance billing, control inventory and more.  This program will prepare the
student for the National Exam through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Certified Billing and Coding Specialist

This 132 hour course is designed to educate students regarding the changing health care regulations and prepare them for a career in Physician billing. The course also prepares the students for the (NHA) National Healthcareer Association certification exam.

This curriculum rounds out the relationship with maximizing reimbursement, correct coding linkage and Medical Terminology.  The course consists of 30 hours of Medical Terminology and 102 hours of coding and billing.

Certified Nurse Aide/ Home Health Aide Program

This training is a dual certification program that prepares the students for Certified Nurse Aide and Home Health Aide examinations and job opportunities.  The focus of the course is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.  The responsibilities include assisting the client with meeting the daily need for hygiene, ambulation, nutrition, elimination, comfort, safety, psychosocial and spiritual needs.  The students will learn to function as members of the healthcare team.

•  128 hours of training
•  Classroom and skills practice
•  4 days of clinical experience working in a facility
•  Review day to practice skills and prepare for exam
•  75% passage of theory is mandatory to participate in clinical and exam.
•  Certification Exam included in the program
