Transferable College Credit Options

Credit for courses taken at other colleges

Credit earned at other colleges will be transferred from accredited, degree-granting colleges as appropriate, provided the grade received is "C" or higher and the courses apply to unmet requirements in your Corning Community College program.To receive transfer credit, contact the registrar's office at each school previously attended and request that an official (original) copy of your transcript be sent directly to the Office of Admissions.

Transcripts delivered by the student will not be accepted for transfer evaluation, unless they are presented in the original sealed and stamped envelope from the originating institution. Copied or faxed transcripts are not considered official and will not be accepted for transfer evaluation.

International Baccalaureate (IB) exams

Credit may be given for scores of 4 or higher on the Higher Level Exam. Student must have an official score report sent to the Office of Admissions. Decisions for credit will be made by individual departments.

Advanced Placement (AP) exams

Credit may be given for scores of 3 or higher.  Student must have an official score report sent to the Office of Admissions.  Decisions for credit will be made by individual departments.

Accelerated College Education (ACE) credits

ACE is a great way to earn Corning Community College credits while still in high school. ACE is a concurrent high school and college enrollment program that enables high achieving juniors and seniors to earn college credit while taking classes in their high school.  All ACE teachers are high school teachers who have earned certification through CCC as adjunct instructors to teach approved courses.

CCC Challenge Exams and Credit by Examination Options

Challenge exams are options for students who have acquired knowledge through non-accredited institutions. Examinations are given by Academic Divisions and are not available in every course.  There is a fee for each exam. Contact the Office of Admissions for further information.

CLEP and DANTES exams

These are nationally administered, multiple choice exams available in various subjects. At CCC credit may be received for scores that meet the recommendations set by the American Council on Education (ACE).

Credit for military and other training programs

1.    Military course work as assessed by DANTES USAFI/CASE

2.    Business or industry courses as recommended by the
       American Council on Education.

3.    Course work approved by the NYS Education Department or CCC

4.    CCC approved training programs offered through industry.

Course work submitted for credit evaluation must be equivalent in substance to current courses offered at CCC for credit to be awarded

For each of the above an official transcript must be submitted to the College by the appropriate agency.
