Accelerated College Education (ACE) is a concurrent enrollment program in which high school students take CCC college courses at their high school and earn college credit through Corning Community College (CCC).
All courses are taught at the student's high school by high school faculty who have the appropriate degree and credentials required by CCC to be approved as adjunct instructors.
Credits are transferable to many colleges across the country. Tuition is currently $54 per credit hour, which makes ACE a tremendous educational value.
Get a head start on your college career through ACE and enjoy a great beginning with Corning Community College.
History
The program, originally entitled the, “College Level Education Program (CLEP)”, began in the fall of 1972 as a joint venture between the Elmira City School District and the Corning Community College. It consisted of a single course, Calculus, being taught at each of Elmira’s two high schools. By 1987, the program had grown to 185 students in six high schools. It had developed into a collaboration among the six schools, the area BOCES and the Corning Community College. Its name was changed to the “Accelerated College Education (ACE) Program”.
Today the program includes 40 schools covering the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania and offers a choice of 62 college courses while providing high quality educational experiences to approximately 3,500 students. The Corning Community College is a founding member of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) and received accreditation status through NACEP in 2008. NACEP is an organization representing colleges from across the country that offer programs similar to ACE and was established for the purpose of professional exchange, development of common standards and sharing of information regarding best practices for member colleges.
