April 15 Aaron Schikler’s portrait of Arthur A. Houghton, Jr. was unveiled in the Library.

June 30 Dr. William Perry resigned as first President of CCC.
July 1 Dr. Robert W. Frederick officially took office as President.
July Construction of the athletic fields and tennis courts began.
July Jack Wills and John Brennan began building nature trails behind CCC creating the Spencer Crest Wildlife Refuge.
October 13 Lawrence Rockefeller participated in a panel discussion centered on topics such as a state lottery, addiction and campaign spending.
November 8 Marian Anderson, singer, spoke at CCC.
November 11 Six non-descript trailers were placed behind the Commons as temporary classrooms.
December 8 Arthur Schlesinger, historian and intellectual, spoke at convocation.
