Marie Hannan-Mandel was raised in Ireland. She has a BA in History and Psychology and a Higher Diploma of Education from University College Cork, an MA in International Relations from The City University of New York and did doctoral work in Political Science at both the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and University College Cork. Marie received her Master in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine. Marie has worked in universities in Ireland, the US, and the UK. At Corning Community College, Marie primarily teaches developmental reading and writing and Creative Writing, fiction and drama. Marie is the editor of the peer reviewed journal, Research & Teaching in Developmental Education (RTDE), and is the editor of the Noose, the newsletter for the Mystery Writers of America/New York chapter. In 2013, Marie was shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association (UK) Debut Dagger for her unpublished novel.
