Corning Community College welcomes Isaac Bushey as its new Director of Athletics, effective December 11, 2017. Bushey replaces Stacy Johnson, who was recently promoted to Assistant Dean of Student Services at Corning Community College.
“We are excited to welcome Isaac to this new position,” said L. Dean Fisher, Vice President and Dean of Student Development and Enrollment Management. “His commitment to the community college mission and student development will serve CCC’s students well and propel the College’s athletic program to new heights.”
Bushey has been with CCC since 2014, serving in various offices, including Residence Life, Admissions, and Athletics as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. Bushey will continue to coach the men’s basketball team in his new position, but looks forward to the new challenges the additional responsibilities will bring.
“I’m excited to begin this new role,” said Bushey. “CCC has an award-winning athletics program that I am anxious to nurture and grow. We have a roster of dedicated coaches who are focused on developing successful student-athletes who excel in the classroom and on the court … people who truly support the mission of education through sports participation. That’s important to me.”
Bushey holds a Master’s of Sports Administration from Canisius College. He has been named Coach of the Year three times and has coached seven All-MSAC Selections, one MSAC Player of the Year, and three All-Region team players. As an athlete, he played community college ball, making three straight regional appearances in the NJCAA Region III and two Regional Final Four appearances.
“I’m thrilled to pass the baton to Isaac,” said Johnson, who will continue serving as CCC’s Softball Coach even with the promotion to Assistant Dean. “It’s clear that Isaac understands the powerful role athletics plays in a student’s college experience and the life lessons students learn through intercollegiate and intramural play. I expect great things.”
