SUNY Corning Community College has partnered with the University of Buffalo to create a 2 + 4 pathway for students to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy in six years. Students begin at SUNY CCC, earn an associate's degree that fulfills the required prerequisites at the University of Buffalo, and then proceed to the University of Buffalo to complete the final four years of the program.
In recent years, "pharmacist" has been consistently ranked one of the best jobs in the United States. Pharmacists play an important role in helping people get the best results from their medications. The pharmacist is an accessible liaison with whom patients can talk face-to-face, without an appointment. Pharmacists answer health-related questions — what foods, drinks, activities, or other drugs could have an effect on medication or what to do about a missed dose. Essentially, pharmacists help people with almost anything related to the use of medicines, which means they help people to stay as healthy as possible. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for pharmacists was $124,170 in May 2017. In addition, employment of pharmacists is projected to grow 6 percent from through 2026.
