Teaching
The best moments in my teaching experience are moments when students come across something: a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things, which is special and particular to them. In my classes, I encourage close reading, asking questions, and learning together about ourselves as readers, writers, and thinkers. Students in my classes practice Octavia Butler’s wonderful writing advice: “Habit is persistence in practice.” Together, we learn and reflect on reading, writing, and research strategies, and what works for each of us.
