How it Works

Upon registering for courses, you will be automatically enrolled into the program. Once you've successfully selected your courses, the bookstore will start preparing your order. Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email to verify your order and select your fulfillment preference. An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within your Brightspace.

Opt-out Period for Students

  • Students are automatically enrolled in the First Day Complete Program and are charged $26.25 per credit. Financial aid may cover the cost of the First Day Complete program.
  • If you do not want to participate in the First Day Complete Program, the opt-out deadline for full term courses in the Summer 2024 semester is June 9, 2024.
  • Students have the option to opt-out of this program here. You will need to purchase your course materials on your own if you opt-out. See the FAQs below for more details.

Return Deadline for Summer 2024 Course Materials

  • The return deadline for Summer 2024 course materials is the last day of final exams, which is August 9, 2024.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

First Day Complete is a course material model that lowers the cost of materials for students and ensures students have access to all of their required course materials on or before the first day of class.

Through this new program, physical books will be conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and digital materials will be delivered directly within your Brightspace. Costs will be included as a separate charge on a student's tuition/fees bill. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to return their physical course materials to the bookstore.

  • Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you)
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships
  • Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within your Brightspace
The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to eligible students.

The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, engineering kits or nursing kits.

All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the First Day® Complete program.

While it is not recommended, student have the option to opt-out of this program here. Opting out means you will not receive your required physical course materials in a convenient package at a discounted rate and access to digital course material delivered directly to your Brightspace will be removed. 

To change your status and opt-into the First Day® Complete program, please click here or use the link from your opt-out confirmation email. You must make your final decision by January 2, 2024 (Winter term). 

Students will be responsible for purchasing their required course materials through the bookstore.

Students will receive emails and phone calls from the bookstore to remind them to verify their order. If the student does not opt-out, their materials will be held at the bookstore and their student account will be charged.

You may return the book to the bookstore on the same terms and timelines currently in place. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required textbooks/codes so that you have what you need.

Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will remain on your student account.

 

PAYMENT

Your textbook charges will be added to your student account. The cost is $26.25 per credit hour. Financial aid, if available, will be applied to your student account and can be used to pay the textbook rental cost. You will be responsible for any charge that remains unpaid after application of financial aid, third party payments, or other funding sources.

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.

All textbook rentals are due on the last day of the exams period for the semester.  You will be reminded of the due date and provided an option to purchase any materials you may wish to not return.  Non-returned rentals are subject to a replacement cost equal to 75% of the new book price at the time of purchase and a replacement fee of 7.5% of the new book price at the time of purchase.
