Transfer Degree
The Fine Arts and Design A.S. program is designed to allow you to explore multiple art forms and styles, such as
ceramics, digital art, drawing, painting, and art history. You will also have access
to the anagama wood-fired kiln and access to a second wood-fired kiln capable of firing
both ceramics and working hot glass. This program requires the creation of a portfolio.
The program cultivates strong artistic foundations and advanced skills, emphasizing mastery of line, proportion, value, gesture, texture, and individual style. Students develop the ability to draw architectural interiors using accurate linear perspective and to create realistic portraits and figure studies with correct proportion.
Instruction builds confidence across a wide range of traditional media—including pen and ink, charcoal, conté crayon, ink wash, oil paint, and graphite—while strengthening proficiency in both two- and three-dimensional design. Students also gain a broad understanding of Western art history from ancient Egypt to the present, prepare a professional portfolio and résumé for transfer or employment, and reinforce their education through coursework in the liberal arts and sciences, including communication, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, and Western civilization.
