Student Government Spotlight: Isaiah Blakemore

Q & A with IsaiahStudent stands on a campus walkway in front of the Arthur A. Houghton Jr. Library at Corning Community College.

Meet Isaiah Blakemore, Student Government Treasurer and a second-year Engineering Science major.

Q: What is your favorite spot on campus and why?

Picking a favorite spot on our campus is tough. I'd have to choose the Learning Center because of the private study rooms.

Q: What has been your favorite class you’ve taken at CCC?

My favorite class I've taken would be General Chemistry 1. I took it along with Mitch and Reilly and it was quite fun!

Q: Why is it important to get involved on campus?

Getting involved on campus is important because making connections with new people helps strengthen our community here at CCC. Attending events helps our campus feel more like a family and something to be happy to look back on in the future.

Q: What are some of your hobbies off campus?

I really enjoy hunting, running, and quality time with friends and family when I'm off campus. Living on a family farm and working alongside my siblings and parents every morning helps me stay grounded and ready for the day.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a part of Student Government?

My favorite thing about being a part of Student Government is the ability to work as a team and make being a student more enjoyable here at CCC.

Q: Who is your favorite professor at CCC and why?

My favorite professors would be Hatesh Radia and Ray Labounty. I love both of their teaching styles, and they've helped me become more confident in math as an engineering science major.

Q: What would you tell someone who is interested in getting involved on campus, but might not know where to start?

If you're interested in getting involved but don't know where to start, I would suggest meeting at the Student Association Executive Board (SAEB) office during any member's office hours, we can help you find a club that aligns with your interests. Also, attending a Student Association Government Association (SAGA) meeting could give a more deeper view of what different clubs and organizations are all about!
