SUNY Reconnect Faculty Highlight: Laci Tuttle
Meet Laci Tuttle, M.S. Ed., Instructor of Education at SUNY Corning Community College. Through SUNY Reconnect, Laci is helping prepare future educators and supporting adult learners as they work toward careers that make a difference.
When did you begin working at SUNY CCC, and why/how did you end up here?
I began working here in 2021 as an adjunct while working as a response to intervention literacy teacher. I was drawn to using my experiences to assist preservice teachers navigate their path to teaching. I enjoyed it so much that I started full time in 2025.
What classes do you teach at SUNY CCC?
Current courses:
- Foundations of Education
- Teaching in Diverse Classrooms
Beginning this spring:
- Special Education and the Inclusive Classroom
- Schools and Society
Early Childhood courses I teach and/or have taught:
- Introduction to Early Childhood Education
- Observing and Recording the Behavior of Young Children
- Infant and Toddler Development
What's your favorite part about being a faculty member at SUNY CCC?
The community. We have wonderful faculty that support students in different realms and of course, the students! I have met so many inspiring people that have gone though our program. The community is special here.
How do you see your program benefiting SUNY Reconnect students?
In education you have the opportunity to make a difference, change someone's life, and make an impact doing what you enjoy!
What's been the best part of your professional career?
Seeing students achieve their goals! Watching them turn from learner to educator is an amazing experience!
What is a message you would like to provide for SUNY Reconnect students?
SUNY CCC is a wonderful place to be. We have students from all walks of life. We value fostering connections and community. You will be supported every step of the way!
What do you like to do during your free time/time outside of the classroom?
I am a mom to three wonderful children! When I am not working you will catch me at my daughter's wrestling matches, out in nature enjoying hikes at the Finger Lakes with my children and dogs, at the gym, at a concert or spending time with friends and family.
