Student Spotlight: Karije Henderson

Meet Karije, a sophomore majoring in Directed Studies, who chose Corning Community College for the opportunity to grow into the person he wants to become. The ability to shape his own future was a key factor in his decision to enroll.

Two professors have made a lasting impact on Karije’s academic journey—Sky Moss and Lee Gernert Larrea. “They both do an excellent job, but most importantly, they are mindful and inclusive to all individuals in the classroom,” he says.

Beyond the classroom, CCC has provided Karije with valuable insight into the professional world through connections made on campus. Academically, he has been challenged to stay responsible and engaged, which he believes is excellent preparation not just for future studies, but also for entering the workforce.

His advice to fellow students is simple: “Don’t be scared to ask questions. You never know the answer you may receive.”
