Headshot of Sophia Mirando

Meet Sophia Mirando, a dedicated Criminal Justice major who plans to graduate in 2026. Sophia chose SUNY Corning Community College for its strong criminal justice program and convenient location close to home. “They have a good criminal justice program, and it was close to home,” she explained.

Sophia is an active and engaged student who wears many hats on campus. She serves as President of Student Government and is also a member of the women’s soccer team. One of her proudest accomplishments came during high school when she participated in the BOCES criminal justice program and earned a competitive scholarship awarded to just one student in her class.

When it comes to favorite places on campus, Sophia says she enjoys spending time in The Commons. It is a great place to hang out, catch up with friends, and be part of the campus community.

From academics to athletics and student leadership, Sophia is making the most of her college experience at CCC.
