Greetings,

Earlier this week, RBOT Vice Chairman Judy McKinney Cherry issued an update on the search process for the next President of Corning Community College. On behalf of the entire Regional Board of Trustees, I thank Judy and the entire search committee for their time and effort, and the seriousness which they have approached this process.

While confidentiality and privacy agreements do not allow us to share specific details of the search, I will share with you that we have received a very positive response to our job posting. That is a credit to our very dedicated administration, faculty and staff here at the college. SUNY Corning Community College is a well-respected organization and professionals want to work here, and continue the impactful results that have been achieved, since our opening in September 1958.

As many of you are aware, Dr. Mullaney’s last day is June 2nd and we don’t expect to have his replacement in place (best case scenario) until early September. In the interim, last night the Board of Trustees agreed to engage an Administrator in Charge (AIC) until a new President arrives on campus.

I’m happy to announce that Kim L. Frock has agreed to serve in that capacity. Outside of CCC, there may not be an area resident more synonymous with education than Kim. Most of you know that, in 2003, Kim stepped away from a very successful career at Corning, Inc. to create the Alternative School for Math and Science. As a founder of the school, Kim has championed the success of our regions’ middle school students, since the official opening of the school in 2004. She served as the Administrative Head of Schools from 2003 - 2020, and currently serves as the school’s Executive Head of School. Kim is involved in many area not-for-profits, and has served on Dr. Mullaney’s President’s Advisory Council.

Kim, who is a Certified Public Accountant, holds a B.S. in Accounting from Lehigh University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. During her career at Corning, Inc., she held several senior Finance positions. We (the RBOT) believe that - with Kim’s administrative and financial experience - she will provide an ideal transition from Dr. Mullaney to our next campus President. I look forward to working with Kim and the senior staff, during the summer months, to keep the positive momentum moving to our next academic year.

In reflecting on her appointment Kim said “I am excited and energized to join the CCC community until a new President has been selected. I look forward to be part of such a vital institution for education in the Southern Tier.”

Kim will be working with Dr. Mullaney before he leaves us and I know you join me in welcoming her to our Corning Community College family.

As we approach graduation, THANKS to all of you for the excellent job you have completed with our newest grads! It’s that effort – no matter what position or role you play here on campus – that makes our college so successful, and a real jewel within the SUNY system

Thank you for your patience during our search process, and best wishes for an enjoyable summer, both on and off campus.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Wayne '80

Dear SUNY Corning Community College Community,

I want to take a moment to provide an update on the search for our next College President.

The Presidential Search process is progressing well and remains on track with the anticipated timeline. The Search Committee has begun reviewing application materials and will be meeting later this month to discuss the candidate pool in more detail.

We understand that there may be questions along the way, and I want to assure you that the Committee is committed to conducting a thorough, inclusive, and transparent search. We are grateful for the input we have received from across campus and will continue to prioritize the best interests of the College community throughout this important process.

We will continue to share updates as we move through the next phases of the search. Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement.

Sincerely,
Judy McKinney Cherry

Greetings,

The Corning Community College Regional Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee are pleased to announce the launch of the presidential search. The institution has partnered with RPA Inc., a nationally recognized executive search firm, who will be assisting the Search Committee through its work over the coming months.

The search process has begun this week with RPA Inc. visiting campus to engage with constituent groups to better understand the institution and the opportunity. The conversations RPA Inc. consultants had on campus were to help them to prepare their topics for recruitment conversations. During this visit, the Search Committee also held its first meeting: an orientation to the search process and preparation for moving forward with the search.

Over the coming weeks, we will launch a presidential search webpage, detailing information and providing updates about the search and timeline.

In the meantime, RPA Inc. has created a survey for you to provide feedback related to the presidential search and what you are looking for in the next president.

The Regional Board of Trustees and the Search Committee request that you take some time to complete this survey and encourage your peers and colleagues to complete it as well. The feedback from the survey is anonymous and will be shared with the Search Committee to help them understand what the campus and community are considering related to the presidential search.

Please complete the survey by 12:00 p.m. eastern time on Friday, March 28.

With appreciation,
