Mechatronics
Mechatronics involves mechanical, electronic, computer, robotic, and control systems. There is
a high demand in our region for individuals with mechatronics skills, and there are
well-paying jobs in this field. Mechatronics Technicians assist in the design, development,
repair, and maintenance of electronic/robotic systems and individual components that
support advanced manufacturing. In SUNY Corning Community College's two-year Mechatronics
AAS program, hands-on learning is highlighted in an equipment lab modeling a multi-stage
assembly line similar to the one pictured above. Regional (Hilliard’s, Hardinge, Upstate Milk, Cameron Manufacturing, etc.) and global
corporations (Corning Inc., Lockheed Martin, Dresser-Rand/Siemens, Pladis Global,
etc.) are some of the employers.
The average Mechatronics Technician salary in the U.S. is $61,425.
