Supporting the Students of SUNY CCC
As the College transitioned to online education in mid-March it became apparent that our student’s needs would also be amplified by COVID-19. Many found themselves out of work or facing the challenge of not having a computer or internet access. The Corning Community College Foundation stepped in with the Student Emergency Fund.
As of May 4th, $6,700 has been given out for rent and utility needs, and $4,300 has been given out for technology needs. Additionally, with laptops provided by SUNY System Administration, 22 laptops have been loaned to students through the SUNY CCC Student Emergency Laptop Loan Program.
Below are thanks from students to our donors who made the Student Emergency Fund possible:
"I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for assisting me during these trying times. Due to my health conditions, I am considered high risk for COVID-19 and because of this, I can no longer work. My father has also lost his job due to the pandemic so we are both unemployed with bills to pay. We rely on each other to pay the bills, we split everything 50/50. So this assistance that you provided me will go a long way in making sure I have proper internet access to continue to further my education. I cannot thank this school enough for everything that it has done for me, I truly love Corning Community College." - Alexander
"I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the CCC staff and community.
Thank you for this blessing and thank you for helping. It really does mean a lot and
this is something I am very grateful for." - Ariel
"I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to you for making the Student Emergency Fund available and awarding some finical relief in my time of need. Thank you again for your generosity and support. I assure you I will continue to work hard in my studies with the goal of someday giving back." - Lisa
