01/14/2019

SUNY Corning Community College & SUNY Oswego establish 2 + 2 for Bachelor of Arts in Music

SUNY Corning Community College has formed a new collaborative agreement with SUNY Oswego. The 2+2 agreement allows students to complete two years of undergraduate study at SUNY CCC and then apply to SUNY Oswego to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Following a successful audition in their primary performance area, students are guaranteed admission to SUNY Oswego and will enter with full junior standing. Students can select from four areas: generalist, jazz studies, audio recording and production, or performance studies.

An agreement was formally signed by Dr. Scott Furlong, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. L. Dean Fisher, Provost, SUNY Corning Community College.

Discussing the partnership, Fisher said, “Students come to SUNY Corning Community College knowing that we will provide a solid foundation that will serve them well in their future endeavors. Our academic program is rigorous and comprehensive. Our students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of career options and pursue their passions working alongside practicing professionals who have deep connections in the industry. These connections have the power to open doors for our graduates. We are pleased to partner with SUNY Oswego and look forward to working with students to prepare for such a satisfying career.”

Students who choose this option at SUNY CCC, will enroll in the Liberal Arts and Sciences: Humanities and Social Sciences: Music program. In addition to the rigorous academic schedule, these students have access to a variety of co-curricular opportunities including participation in select vocal and instrumental performing ensembles, student recitals, and musical theatre performances
