Dr. O’Hara received the Faculty Innovation in Global Education Award from CCID at its annual conference in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, February 16th.

“It was such an incredible honor to receive this award and have the chance to be with 300 like-minded colleagues from all over the world looking to connect community college students with life changing global opportunities they might not otherwise have,” said Dr. O’Hara.

Dr. O’Hara’s commitment to helping students obtain an international perspective in their coursework has been an area of focus over the years.

In the summer of 2024, Dr. O’Hara was selected to participate in the Community College Internationalization Fellowship at Cornell University. Dr. O’Hara was chosen for her fellowship project on international business law, focusing on the law and ethics of the country of Chile and its rapidly emerging economy. As a result of this work, Dr. O’Hara will be introducing a new unit of international law at SUNY CCC in the fall of 2025.

In 2017, Dr. O’Hara was one of the first faculty members at SUNY CCC to utilize SUNY’s Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program when she partnered with Mexico to explore comparative business ethics in her Business Law I class. Dr. O’Hara’s students, together with students in Chihuahua, Mexico, created a fictional company and then drafted a corporate Statement of Values and a Code of Ethics for the corporation.

Additionally, Dr. O’Hara serves as the Coordinator of Faculty Development and teaches business law, government, and ethics courses.
