SUNY CCC’s Ashley Molina Selected for SUNY Nursing Simulation Fellowship

CORNING, N.Y. – Ashley Molina, a faculty member in the Nursing, A.A.S. program at SUNY Corning Community College, was selected to participate in the State University of New York (SUNY) Nursing Simulation Fellowship for the 2024–2025 academic year. This initiative is designed to advance SUNY nursing programs in adopting simulation-based education to better prepare nurses for New York State’s health care workforce.

The SUNY Nursing Simulation Fellowship prepares faculty members to lead simulation efforts on their own campuses and across the SUNY system, supporting the development of innovative approaches to nursing education. SUNY Nursing Simulation Fellowship Group

Participation in this fellowship places Molina at the forefront of advanced education through experiential learning methods. The program provides a unique opportunity to shape the future of simulation-based training at SUNY CCC while gaining specialized expertise, leadership experience, and access to a collaborative network of educators and clinicians dedicated to improving patient outcomes through simulation.

“The Simulation Fellowship was such a great experience, and I hope to continue the work we are doing,” said Molina. “It was so great to be surrounded by other people who are experts in the field of simulation and share the same mindset in its importance. It was also fantastic to be able to create a network of resources and people who would always be willing to help or answer questions.”

This experience will enhance the quality of nursing education at SUNY CCC by introducing cutting-edge, hands-on learning that strengthens students’ clinical skills, critical thinking, and confidence. It also empowers faculty with advanced teaching tools, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and promotes a culture of innovation in curriculum design. Overall, these efforts help bridge the gap between practice and theory, leading to better-prepared graduates and improved patient care.

The fellowship runs for one year and has been extended for the 2025–2026 academic year.
