SUNY CCC Welcomes New RBOT Members

Corning, NY – SUNY Corning Community College is proud to welcome three new members to the College's Regional Board of Trustees: Thomas Beers, President & CEO of Maple City Savings Bank, FSB; Judy McKinney-Cherry, Executive Director for the Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development and CEO/CFO for the Schuyler County Industrial Development Agency; and Heather Reynolds, Director of the City of Hornell Mayor's Planning Office.

Beers has been with Maple City Savings Bank since 2010. In that time, he brought the bank into a positive earnings position, while also growing the bank’s loan portfolio 77% over a six year period. In addition, Beers oversaw the remodel and opening of the bank’s first branch and upgraded all bank IT systems. His previous experience includes roles with notable companies such as KeyBank, Steuben Trust Company, and Community Bank. He previously served as the President of the Hornell Area Chamber of Commerce and was the former president of the Regional Economic Development and Energy Corporation. Beers graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Husbandry and a Minor in Business Administration from Delaware Valley College.

 McKinney-Cherry has over 25 years of business and executive management experience, having worked in the private and public sector, as well as in a university setting. She was appointed to the Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council in 2015 and is a member of the Southern Tier Regional Community College Council. She is on the board of the CSS Workforce New York Board, where she serves on the executive committee; the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board; the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Regional Economic Development and Energy Corporation. Previously she spent six years serving as the Cabinet Secretary for the Delaware State Economic Development Office, having been the first woman to be confirmed in that position.  McKinney-Cherry has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Political Science, with minors in Computer Science and Economics, from Utah State University.


Reynolds has experience in identifying grant and financial opportunities, coordinating capital projects, and writing the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Hornell. She also serves as a member of the American Planning Association, is currently on the board of the Hornell Erie Depot Museum, and has previously served on the Arbor Housing and Development board as well as the ProAction of Steuben and Yates Inc. board. She previously served as Deputy Mayor for the city of Hornell from 2012-2014.  Reynolds has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs from Wells College and a Masters of Public Administration, Public and Nonprofit Management from Syracuse University.

Beers was appointed to the SUNY CCC Regional Board of Trustees by Steuben County with a term through 2024, and McKinney-Cherry and Reynolds were appointed by Governor Cuomo, with terms set through 2023.
