Our “nontraditional” students are an important part of our student population here at SUNY Corning Community College. Nontraditional or adult learners include any student who is 24 years or older. We know that managing all of life’s responsibilities can make going back to school seem impossible, but CCC is here to help you.
Whether you have decided to earn a degree, take a few classes or enhance your skill set, SUNY CCC has a path for you!
Educational Pathways
Adult Student Checklist
Complete our easy and free online application!
Degree Seeking and Micro-Credentials will:
- Automatically be placed into a math class based on their High School Transcript
- Students are able to take a Math Placement Test if they wish to try to place into a higher level of math
- Need to complete a free English Guided Self Placement Test
Workforce (Non-Degree Seeking)
- No testing is required
Degree-Seeking
- Students can apply for Federal Aid through the FAFSA which will determine their eligibility
- Once the FAFSA is complete, there will be a link that students can apply for New York State TAP
Micro-Credentials
- You may be eligible for Non-degree Part-time TAP
Workforce (Non-Degree Seeking)

Every student except Workforce (Non-Degree Seeking) must provide proof of high school graduation or equivalency. Proof can be sent to our Admissions Office at admissions@corning-cc.edu or via mail: 1 Academic Dr. Corning, NY 14830.
- Official High School Transcript (Must be sent directly from the High School)
- A copy of your GED
- Official College transcripts from any College you have attended
- If you took any Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school, you will need to have them sent to us from College Board
- All Degree Seeking and Micro-Credential students must provide immunization records per New York State Public Health Laws (PHL)
- Students who do not provide proof of immunizations will have a hold placed on their account preventing them from registering for classes

Degree Seeking and Micro-Credential students:
- You are able to register for classes on your own by logging into MyCorning, Student Resources, My Banner, Registration (Add/Drop Classes), Register for Classes
- You can also set up an appointment with the Enrollment Advisement Center (EAC)
Workforce (Non-Degree Seeking)
- You can sign up for a Workforce class online
- You can also contact our Workforce Education and Academic Pathways (WEAP) department at 607-936-5501 or ilearn@corning-cc.edu
- All students are automatically charged out of state tuition. If you are a New York State resident, you will need to submit a Certificate of Residence based on your county in order to have the out-of-state charges removed from your account.
