Red Barons Go Live
Through donations to the Annual Fund this past April, the Red Barons Athletics department purchased Boxcast, livestreaming equipment. The initial 90-day trial during the Softball/Baseball season was an overwhelming success. When SUNY Corning Community College hosted the 2019 NJCAA Region III Division III Softball championships, the live stream had 2,037 active viewers with over 23 states and 6 countries tuning in to view this championship event.
Our Red Barons athletes come from near and far and the addition of livestreaming gives families the opportunity to see their athlete in action, even if they are unable to attend in person. Our coaches can also use the live-stream and subsequently archived footage for recruiting purposes. What better way to get acquainted with the Red Barons Athletics program, especially if you are not from the tri-county area.
You can find our live-stream channel on www.readbaronsathletics.com under the Sports drop-down menu. These games are also archived for a full year. In October, 66% of our viewers were tuning in to the live event, while 33% were watching archived games.
To date, we have had 15 contests livestreamed (Softball, Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, and Volleyball) and we have achieved 5,902 total views from all 50 states, all 10 provinces of Canada, and 16 different countries in total including Brazil, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany and Norway to name a few. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, live-streamed games are helping to bring visibility of SUNY CCC far beyond our tri-county region.
