Tablets for Students
Grant Funding Purchases New Tablets for Student Use
SUNY CCC students will be enjoying a more hands-on experience in science classes this fall thanks to a generous donation from the Lindau Foundation.
Through the grant request process, Corning Community College Development Foundation
was awarded funding to purchase ten new tablets and safety cases. The tablets will
benefit students in the Introductory Biology and Environmental Science classes at
SUNY CCC.
“Incorporating the tablets into labs will provide a more realistic scientific experience through collaboration,” says Associate Professor Robert Koble.
Students will be able to share their work on the TV in the front of the class to see real-time data trends, and they can take pictures of specimens for study purposes rather than relying on drawing the specimens or taking pictures with their phones. The tablets will allow faculty the opportunity to provide online labs using the data and images collected from the prior semesters.
This will be especially useful during any potential shut downs due to emergencies such as the pandemic. Thanks to the Lindau Foundation, we can now move science labs at SUNY CCC to a more immersive and innovative laboratory experience.
